Analyzing a source:
Origin- It changes value and reception of a source. Ask: Where was it recorded or published? Who created it (complete background)?
Influenced it? What happened to the source: was it modernized or changed? What has value?
Purpose- Why was it created? Intended audience? PERSUASION (convincing you to agree with author) most of the time. Otherwise, it's INFORMING (scholar spreading knowledge)
Remember, we are looking at sources and history in hindsight.
Can never have too much information on a source.
